The first letter, written by Fannie to Mrs. Yonce on September 22, 1851, contains family news, including word of the birth of Elizabeth and her husband William's first child, Ann Rice Hudson.  While away at college in Ohio, William received the news of his father's death and responds to his mother's correspondence in the second letter of the collection, dated June 6, 1854.
