Hoge on July 23, 1783, in Frederick County. In 1810, he married Eleanor Howe (1792-1856) in Montgomery County. During his life, Hoge worked as a farmer and military officer, earning the rank of General. He enslaved numerous people, including at least 18 men, women, and children in 1860. Hoge passed away on July 29, 1861, in Pulaski County and is buried with several family members in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Pulaski.","James and Eleanor Hoge had a daughter, Eliza Hoge (1815-1846), who married George Tyler (1817-1889).
