Robinson cofounded the United Virginia Bank with J. Harvie Wilkinson, Jr., for which he served as chairman of the board until 1966. He also served as president of the First and Citizens National Bank in Alexandria, director of Virginia Electric and Power Company, Washington Gas Light Company, and the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges. In 1964-1969 Robinson served as Chairman of the Advisory Board of George Mason University.
