He was awarded the coveted Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship for Graduate Study (Honorary) and the National Defense Education Act Fellowship for three years of graduate study in modern French literature at the University of Wisconsin, where earned an MA and PhD.","From Wisconsin, he joined the Faculty of the Romance Languages Department of Ohio Wesleyan University, where he taught undergraduate courses in French language and literature. After about 10 years, he got a Master of Library Science degree from Kent State University and held several positions at Battelle Memorial Institute, and later corporate librarian at the firm of Burgess and Nipple, Inc., Engineers and Architects.","After retirement in 2007, he returned to Richmond, Virginia where he worked part time at the Richmond Public Library.
