He graduated from the WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences in 1966, where he also joined the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He later attended the University of Virginia and completed the Graduate REALTORS Institute program. He joined the firm Dorsey \u0026 Kiger Realtors (then J. Dorsey Real Estate) in 1967, and became its president in 1979. He is also past president of the Morgantown Branch of Old Colony REALTORS. He has served in various leadership positions in the field of real estate, including president of the Morgantown Board of REALTORS, chairman of the West Virginia Real Estate Commission, and president of the West Virginia Association of REALTORS.
