He attended Washington College and read law under his father. Page graduated from the University of Virginia and was a lawyer in Richmond, Virginia. He married Anne Seddon Bruce and secondly, to Florence Lathrop Field. He wrote novels, children's books, biography and poems. In 1913 he was appointed ambassador to Italy where he served until 1919.
