Between 1922 and 1923, Guthrie was listed as a private in Company \"C\" of the Corps of Cadets, a member of the Hoof and Horn Club, and a member of the Lee Literary Society.  For the school year 1923 and 1924, Guthrie was listed as a corporal in Company \"C,\" a member of the Hoof and Horn Club and Horticultural Society, as well as participating in company football.
