She was a teacher at Smithfield High School, Mathew Whaley School and James Blair High School in Williamsburg, and served as an adminstrator at the Gloucester County Day School (now Ware Academy). She was active in the APVA and a member of the Susan Constant Committee of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America.  \nJones, with Francis Butler Simkins, Professor of History at Longwood College and Sidman P. Poole of the Univerity of Virginia co-authored a textbook which was adopted for the use of Virginia seventh grade students. The textbook was Virginia: History, Government, Geography.
