She is buried in Hollywood Cemetery. Her father was Colonel John Baytop Cary, who served in the Confederate army during the Civil War. Daniel was active in Confederate causes and church work throughout her life; publishing another journal she had kept during the Civil War as a child titled \"A Confederate Scrap-Book\" in 1893.
